A nice article and the central thesis of 'enjoy the good times, the long knives are coming' may prove accurate.
Not sure how I feel about the evolving cliche of our sleepy little campus where hi-vis athletes are ignored.
I did feel compelled to email Mandel and gig him a bit about the "junior swim meet" in fact being the U.S. Jr National Championships, attended by elite HS swimmers from all over the country plus their families, and observed by numerous D-1 college swim coaches eying future prospects. I suggested that demographic may have had more pressing affairs than to linger observing a preseason football workout.
I did stop short of weaving my opening remarks into a long & illuminating discourse on Stanford hosting championship events in Olympic sports and it's relationship to the Director's Cup, though I did consider it.
Have I done wrong?
