It's game week! (Finally!)

After all the hype, the boys will finally step onto the field and either prove it where it counts, or get embarrassed. What will week 1 look like?

• A giant food processor set to "pulverize"?
  
• A decent team with some early season kinks to file down?

This is where that preseason ranking stuff might change the historical model.  The old school Stanford team trying to get to .500 or a minor bowl could afford to beat SJSU without style.  A workman like 42-24 type game would be just fine.

But a top 10 team needs to beat SJSU by a much as possible.  Voldemort hopeful Luck really needs to get 4+ TDs to reinforce the front runner status.  David Shaw likely needs 40 points for people not to hassle him about his coaching skills.  All of these new pressures could ultimately cause the team to implode, but I do not think that SJSU is strong enough to serve as the catalyst for that implosion in week 1.

Too much talent on the field for Stanford to be seriously threatened...but I do worry about that defense without Fangio.  Wouldn't be surprised to see it reasonably close up until halftime, then we wear them down.
