Matt Kopa,  who petitioned the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility,  then appealed their first rejection,  has ended his bid to play for Stanford this year.   He has signed a free agent contract with the 49ers.  Too bad,  two years mostly lost to injury, but the NCAA seemed to take the route of just running out the clock rather than deal with his appeal.   Having Kopa would have solidified a decent Stanford OL,  but at some point he had to move on while he still had some immediate value for NFL teams.  

Funny how the NCAA can hold the line against the little guys, and seem so slow-moving and hesitant when dealing with the big issues
of rule enforcement.  JMO.
