Matt Kopa, Â who petitioned the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility, Â then appealed their first rejection, Â has ended his bid to play for Stanford this year. Â He has signed a free agent contract with the 49ers. Â Too bad, Â two years mostly lost to injury, but the NCAA seemed to take the route of just running out the clock rather than deal with his appeal. Â Having Kopa would have solidified a decent Stanford OL, Â but at some point he had to move on while he still had some immediate value for NFL teams. Â
Funny how the NCAA can hold the line against the little guys, and seem so slow-moving and hesitant when dealing with the big issues
of rule enforcement. Â JMO.
