I recall we got a basketball transfer from Santa Clara (Zimmerman?) when their fired head coach was hired as an assistant with us (Davey).

Dick Davey was the coach, Andrew Zimmerman was the player.  He played one year at SCU, redshirted, then played for three seasons at Stanford.  Zimmerman played a lot in 2011-12 for Stanford, 28 starts.  Received All-Academic Pac-10 HM and 2T in two years:

IIRC there actually was some traction/mutual interest with Jaelan Phillips when he was leaving UCLA, but that didn't materialize. Can't think of any others in recent years.

Yeah, Jaelan choice UCLA over Stanford because of his family ties there, so when he decided to leave I'm surprised we weren't more of a factor. I suppose admissions could have been an issue.
