I totally agree. It used to be possible for the defense to know if it was a straight run by what the wide receivers did. If they blocked, it had to be a run. The safeties could then play run all the way. Now screen passes and swing passes can happen after downfield blocks. If the linemen crossed the LOS it also was a run, although with the current rules in the NCAA the linemen can be 3 yards beyond the LOS on a pass play, even one that is not behind the LOS. This added to the additional advantage of the blocks themselves delivers a disproportionate advantage to the offense.
The offense already gets too many advantages as it is. You can't play bump and run. You have to be real careful of the QB. You have to be real careful of how you tackle. Some of these rules are for health reasons, but many of them are to make it easier to score. The helmet to helmet contact rule is seldom if ever enforced on the offense. If the running back drops his head and plows into the DB, if there is a call it will be against the DB. In my opinion that has made the game more like basketball on turf. Given how basketball is refereed these days, the convergence is fast approaching.
