WBB: Mulkey to LSU
04-25-2021, 04:21 PM
I just saw a tweet about Baylor posting a congratulatory video when the move was announced. I cannot believe it! Apparently, Mulkey grew up in Louisiana.
I'm so glad there's no women's basketball program in Massachusetts.

Did you forget Harvard?
Baylor was paying Mulkey 2.2 million per year. Reports that her LSU contract will be 2.5 million annually. Mulkey is a 3 time national champion.
Are we paying our 3 time national championship coach that much?! I sure hope Coach Vanderveer is compensated just as well. Baylor is private institution yet discloses employee salaries. Does anyone know if Stanford does the same?
I've always wondered how our WBB budget matched up with other programs. Prior to this Covid year, we've always done a lot of commercial travel where as most programs charter everywhere. I do wonder if there are other areas we lag behind.
After googling, I found this article. Back in 2016, Tara at 2.2 million. So the answer to the earlier question is yes!

A Dark Secret, a Systemic Failure at LSU and the Les Miles I Thought I Knew
There’ll be big fallout from this at LSU. Makes me wonder why Mulkey would go to LSU? It isn’t her alma mater either. Is there a scandal brewing at Baylor?

You mean beside the sexual assault scandal that merits its own wikipedia page where Mulkey initially defended the school before walking it back and apologizing?

Kudos to Baylor for quickly jumping up to the level of USC, Notre Dame, and Duke as the teams I detest most and love most to root against. The entire school. Every sport. I'm not going to bring religion into the discussion, but the hypocrisy on that front is astounding.

Such a shame that Mulkey is leaving Baylor to go to LSU. Now Baylor's loss can be LSU's loss.

Mulkey's First LSU Signee is One of Nation's Top Post Players - LSU Tigers (lsusports.net)
Gusters follows Mulkey to LSU. Saw her play a few times - wasn't all that impressed

Or was her seeming bigotry just the result of working for Baylor under its repugnant policies? She is moving from a private religious college to a public university, so we might find out.
