Hate to keep beating a dead horse, but can we talk about the OL? Last year Sarrell was an excellent run blocker but very iffy on the pass. Dalman was obviously excellent at center, after a couple years light in the pants, and thus was drafted. Hinton replaced Sarrell. Last year he trucked DL's in short yardage. He was as iffy as Sarrell in pass pro. This year, he's ok in run block but not as dominant as last year; in pass prol he's on skis, often unbalanced, goes for the fake and can't recover, and honestly looks slower in his pass setup than last year. What happened?
Drake hasn't done any worse than the other interior linemen but hasn't stood out either. As some have noted, Rouse is mammoth but doesn't look as quick as last year. And the guards have been a total disappointment to me. Last year, even though they were young, they were able to create creases and/or push the DL two yds back. This year, there are no creases and they are the ones pushed two yards back.
So, is it that they haven't mastered the new techniques, have lost good weight, gained bad weight? Do the new techniques no fit their skill set? Should we go back to last year's techniques?
The new guy looks to be a good recruiter, but what's going on down on the field?
