He used to blow layups or get the ball stripped down low. I don't recall that happening last night. He made a few dunks and hit his layups. That's a good start for him.
You and Teejers are much higher on Kisunas than I am, obviously. Blowing layups and getting the ball stripped (or blocked...a lot) is a function of his limited athleticism and skills. Tarleton State is tiny: tallest kid who played was 6'6" and not bulky either. Kisunas *should* have feasted on that team, and he was...just ok despite the stat line looking decent. Against a better, taller team I'm afraid he's going to be the same kid we've seen. I think he's fine in spot minutes coming off the bench, but imo he's not a starter on a good Pac-12 team and I didn't see anything last night to make me think otherwise. But one game, so let's hope...
It looks to me like Kisunas got in better shape and "played lighter," a little niftier. But I don't disagree with basic take that K's athleticism is limited. Maxime's is, too . . . he's just taller. But Maxime is definitely a better/more skilled player on the perimeter (and perhaps in paint, though we didn't see that last night). My bottom line: against good (let alone great) teams, it's a man's game, even at the college level (recall Terry getting bullied last 1/3 of his frosh season, and he was a better frosh than any of these guys). Thus, don't be surprised to see the frosh, with exception of Ingram who is solidly built and based right now, get bullied a fair amount by good teams this season.
Again, I'll be happy if/when the frosh emerge as key, regular contributors. And I do expect it to happen at some point this season. We shall see.
Jones is the guy I'd like to see get off more on offensive end.
