versus NCAA WBB refs' pay vs NCAA MBB refs' pay?
I would urge the subject to be changed to reference "Kyle and Missy" versus just "Missy" to avoid confusing where the gender gap happens.

Out of curiosity, how many women refs are there in the men's game? Is it as bad as coaching?

I thought Dawn Staley's quote was telling (about her, not about the topic of the article). I took her "we" as "coaches" (not "fans").
I did wonder about the percentages of former (M v. W) NCAA BB players that are now officials. That is, if you look at (M v W) refs who are, say, 40-45 yo, and you compare that to the number of NCAA (M v W) BB players when that age group was in college, do men or women go into officiating (or coaching) at significantly higher or lower rates? [No, you don't need to have played BB at a NCAA school to be an official now - this is just a proxy for the numbers that played the sport in college.]
