I don't know if this was on the Cardboard yet, but for the first time in history, a single country swept the 100m and 200m at the World Championships (held at Hayward Field in Oregon in July). The American men swept the 200 meters: Noah Lyles sprinted 19.31, breaking Michael Johnson's 26 year old American record. Kenneth Bednarek finished 2nd in 19.77 and 19 year old phenom Erriyon Knighton took the bronze in 19.80. Lyles' 19.31 is the third fastest in history, behind Usain Bolt's 19.31 and Yohan Blake's 19.26.
Fred Kerley (lane 4) was the world champ at 9.86, Marvin Bracy (lane 3) ran a 9.88 and Treyvon Bromell (lane 8) also ran a 9.88. Another American, Christian Coleman (lane 7 and reigning world champ), finished in 10.01.
