Poor Candice!
I ruptured my Achilles several years ago while playing soccer - and it wasn\'t fun. Imagine, whatever the exact, diametric opposite of fun might be and multiply by 1,000. If felt like someone snuck up behind me with a 9 iron and whacked me in the tendon while I was running. You know exactly what happened immediately because flexing your foot is no longer possible and there\'s nothing where the tendon used to be - it\'s now curled up like a yo-yo string somewhere else in you foot.
The surgeon gets to go find those yo-yo strings, overlap them and then sew them back together. It\'s a little more complicated than I describe but close enough.
If there\'s good news to rupturing your tendon it\'s that the surgical process is darn good and leaves you with a fully functioning and nearly full strength foot. Of course you have to stretch it out to get your full range of motion back but that shouldn\'t be a problem for a professional athlete.
In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.
