Her drives to the basket were crafty--not out of control--you could tell she was looking to dish if the opportunity arose but was prepared to score if they let her through. But I'd like to see her get comfortable hitting a few jumpers each game too, Amber Orrange-like. And that will require a quicker release. That will come, I think, in time. Maybe not this season. Probably something that will need work in the critical freshman-to-sophomore off season.(12-19-2022, 03:17 PM)TheWildJacko Wrote: Not one of Lepolo's best games as a point guard. Yeah, she was undersized, which is probably always going to be the case, but the Tenn defenders were also very athletic and didn't allow her much space. It's notable that when Tara pulled her for Agnes and had Haley bring the ball up, that we had better matchups and our great 4th Q run happened.
My wish list -- I would like to see her develop a quick shot release like Hannah in the off-season. It would really add to her game.

Maybe she was only 75% on free throws, but I believe she profitably spent the last 2 weeks working on this. But, it takes more than 2 weeks to unlearn bad habits, and she'll still get calls against her. I thought I was seeing a difference in this game.

This is despite Stanford's unquestionable success from the moment she stepped on campus. People have seen her play in the NCAA tournament and have seen Stanford win 10 tournament games over the past 2 seasons (tied with South Carolina for the most of any team in the country), but other Stanford players (like Jones or even Prechtel) were designated the heroes in many of those wins. Yesterday Brink was the clear hero against one of the top-branded teams in WBB (in a network-televised game) and there was no way viewers could ignore her impact. She's got the attention now. I suspect she will continue to justify it.Well said OC. Thank goodness we will have her for another year, which will allow her to shine after Boston's departure, and give her more time to continue to make progress on her fouls. Of course the best situation would be if we won a natty this year--then the spotlight would really be on her heading into next year.
