What was/were your favorite Stanford sports memory/memories from this calendar year? I think #1 for me happened in the NCAA women's golf championship semifinal match vs. Auburn. Brooke Seay was all square with her opponent on the 18th hole. The match was square at 2-2. The winner of Seay's match would determine which team would advance to the finals and which would go home. With all of that pressure, she stood over an approach to the 18th green facing water short and to the right and bunkers to the left. She hit one of the sweetest 5 wood shots you have ever seen like a laser at the hole. It finished 25 feet away with a putt for eagle. Her opponent could not match it and lost to Seay's 2 putt birdie. It was a moment that really stuck out for me.

Stanford 16, Notre Dame 14, in South Bend. McKee had a good game, 288 yards, no TDs or INTs, 2nd highest non-Colgate QBR of the year for him. 

Defensive effort was superb,and gave indications of what I hope will come in 2023. McGill broke up Pyne's pass on 4th and 7 with a minute left to seal the deal. Herron had a brobdingnagian sack on 2nd and 4. Stanford broke a three-game losing streak to Notre Dame, we recovered two of three ND fumbles and had a first half shutout by the defense. Two sacks, six tackles for loss.

Would love to see that level of defense next year on a consistent basis.

WBB: Stanford defeats #6 Texas in the NCAAs to advance to the final four.  Texas beat us, at home, early in the year, and played a style of defense that seemed to give us fits.  But Tara's teams always do improve more over a year than our opponents do, and this was proven yet again on March 27.  It was Lexi's last winning performance and she scored 20 in our 59-50 revenge win.

The baseball team also gave fans some all time great memories this year. Top of that list was the regional final game vs. Texas State. One of the best, tensest games that I have seen in years with a most surprising, unexpected, fantastic ending for Stanford fans.

I was actually at that game in person and it was a ton of fun.

16 defensive players recorded a tackle in that game. 9 are gone, and 2 more are currently in the portal.

We've essentially hit the reset button on the entire program, and "coaching up" players takes time, so I'd expect very little next year. The good news is practically everyone on next year's defense (and offense, for that matter) will be returning again in 2024.
