This seems related to a truism in the business world - the leader who got you into a hole won't be the one to get you out.

As much as I want to believe it, I just can't go along with the spur-of-the-moment departure thing. Kudos for his self-knowledge re old guy/new guy. Just wish he'd realized it sooner.
