Has anyone been watching this?  Ding Liren of China is playing Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia, who was runner-up to Magnus Carlsen in the last championship.  The games begin at 2am here on the west coast, so most of us are asleep at the time, but the chess has been exciting.  It's best of 14 games, going to rapid games if it's tied.

Passively following this - I, like most others, am surprised by the number of wins vs draws.  I was expecting this to be a boring championship after Carlsen's withdrawal from this format.  I was very, very wrong.

just finished watching one of the sloppiest Championship games in recent memory.  Ian literally gave it away.  the match is now tied, and if the next two games are draws, we will go to rapid play.
