WSU and OSU already have deficits of $10-15M annually.  As the conference and media deals unravel, presenting a real problem for small schools.  Option to increase the conference size by adding schools already strapped for cash makes zero sense.

If the Pac12 Network didn't work out, hard to see an add-on package to Apple TV making big dollars. Pac12 needed one of these streamers to splash out for more than the games are worth to try and grab market share, but there has been a lot of belt-tightening in the streaming world past couple years so seems like that sort of deal is not going to happen.

Hard to see this deal bringing stability to Pac-x.

Don't disagree with you overall, but will note that the only way I could get the Pac-12 Networks was a $50 per month Sling package I dropped the second basketball season ends. If AppleTV+ at $12ish per month gets me all Stanford sports, I'd happily pay year round, whereas right now I turn AppleTV+ on and off depending on when the shows I like are running new episodes.

Good choice. Robby Robbins will make the decision and the Board will go along with it. I have no "leaked" info on what that decision is/will be. I have heard that the majority of the fans and similar want to (reluctantly) stay in the PAC-X and see what happens. There is a minority that is in panic mode and want to jump to the Big-12 right now. It appears ASU is NOT going to insist that the two schools stay in the same conference.

Interestingly, rumor at UofA has it that Robbins sees himself as a candidate for the President at Texas A&M and also at Stanford! That would mean the football situation is not necessarily his top priority right now. Hard for me to see him at Stanford, but he does have some history here. I don't know if it is "good" history though. He is also 65, so maybe a bit too old?

Agree.  A half share of Big 10 revenue is more than what Stanford will get in the PAC-12.  There will be an increase in travel expenses but still more net athletic funding with the 1/2 share of B1G money.  Try to get a deal that in a few years gives Stanford closer to a full share.

At the moment joining any other conference looks better financially than trying to make the PAC-X work.

Is there a world where Apple increases the price it will pay for the Pac whatever?

That's the only way Arizona stays, and the only way to keep Oregon and Washington in the fold. Apple now knows the value Oregon and Washington have because the Big Ten media partner is willing to pay more for them that Apple apparently has offered to pay them.

These schools are whores for the money, so if the money is close and the travel not onerous for all their sports, they probably take the Apple deal.

Maybe they up their fixed payouts per school and find a way to additionally compensate them more based on individual school subscription driving performance?

The real question is how much does Apple want the Pac. Will it invest in the product quality to ultimately make it competitive with other conferences? One thing Apple TV should like is taking over Pac-12 Network, because there will be more subscribers for those who follow WBB, Baseball, Softball, W Volleyball in particular.
