Never mind. Lance didn’t need Derek. He just got hired as the head coach at FCS Utah Tech (formely Dixie State).

In other former Stanford coach news, I'm curious to see what happens with Tavita, who's become a (sort of) neighbor of mine as QB coach of the Commanders. Hard to know how much responsibility he has, but I think most watchers (including me, for what little it's worth) are actually pretty impressed with the team's QB, Sam Howell. It's likely the new Commanders ownership will fire the head coach, which one imagines will leave Tavita adrift. I'm guessing he'll land on his feet as his performance with the Commies lends him (at least for me) some credibility that he's not just a creature of Stanford.
