Full credit to akiddoc for finding and posting this elsewhere.  He noted that despite Matt Kopa\'s trials and failure getting a sixth year of eligibility for two years lost to injury, it was possible to get a favorable decision from the NCAA.   Akkidoc noted, with a deft touch, that one way to get that rare and precious sixth year is to shoot  someone in the eye.

1.  The guy takes a gun to his aunt\'s house; kills his aunt\'s boyfriend; and is found innocent on self-defense grounds?

2.  The first jury hangs, 11-1 in favor of acquittal . . . and the DA decides to retry the case??

Bizarre is a good descriptor here.

So, despite the acquittal, this guy Wilson is just baaaad news.  The whole thing is more an indictment, maybe in the literal sense, of the Montana football program.  A lot of it could be laid at the regime of former HC Bobby "Turn A Blind Eye" Hauck.  But Hauck has moved on to the happy sinning grounds of UNLV.   The new coach made this decision, so it\'s a program kind of rot.   They could have told him to take his one year of eligibility somewhere else.

Hauck was on them, probably because he was a "hot" (winning) coach  who had served on big time college football staffs:  w/ Neweasel at Colorado and UDub.   Supposedly ready to move up and, as a scrappy newcomer,  wouldn\'t be asking for a monumental salary.   But no way of knowing whether Bowlsby even had him on "the" list,  or any list.  Frustrating for fans,  but you gotta admire Bowlsby by never commenting during or after the search.  The results speak for themselves.
