So, uh, how about that Pete Carroll? Worst human being ever or worse than that?
Hmmm, I think I would go the other way on this one. Pete was a great college football coach. Thanks in large part to his enthusiasm and his unique coaching style he was able to transform a program in decline into a national powerhouse. Over his tenure USC did very little to improve the playing facilities, the student-athlete resources, or the AD infrastructure for the eventual post-Pete era. And all of the issues that were obscured by Pete\'s personal style and unique winning formula will undoubtedly resurface.
In fact, as the NCAA noted several times, USC football was run by the HC with very little control or direction from the AD or the University. So there is very little reason to believe that USC will be able to replicate the football formula created and controlled by Pete.
Even without the probation, Kiffin was unlikely to repeat Pete\'s success. In some ways Kiffin is lucky because now he can blame his upcoming 4-8 to 7-5 type seasons on the NCAA ruling and/or Pete.
