Why doesn't ESPN update its recruiting class rankings? They still have us 12 with 17 recruits.

Because we're not in the $EC, silly. And Notre Dame is still top 10. I think their ratings are to be taken with a grain of salt.

Unbelievable. Maybe that is a typo and should be an A+. And no mention of Aziz Shittu. The article is Insider so can't copy it.

this is one ranking that I care about even less than the others. delighted that our opponents might underrate us. all last year I got a dose of what it's like to have national press endlessly parroting that a certain player of ours was the second coming... made a lack of hype attention seem extremely attractive.

I view ESPN's recruiting raking the same way I view automotive ranking from Consumer Reports. They cover it because they want to have their finger in everything but there are much better sources for both.

I agree that the hype was a bit over-the-top this past season, but it sure put Stanford in the spotlight - and that additional exposure may have helped us garner such an impressive incoming class of recruits.
I'll bet it opened at least a few doors - and some minds. Respect for our football program is growing, which means we'll see more hype and probably the occasional backlash if someone slips up.
The spotlight is here, and I'd like to see us perform well enough to stay in it, though I agree with you that it's nice to fly under the radar.
