#8 #9 seed OSU just beat #1 seed Washington on the men's side, in a contest of "Who can make the Pac-12 look worse?"
How, do you ask? With the score 84-83 Beavers in the final minute:
- Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Tony Wroten (you know, the one people were touting as Player of the Year) misses a jumper
- After getting his offensive rebound, is fouled and misses both FTs with 18 seconds left.
- Not to be outdone, Jared Cunningham corrals the rebound, is fouled... and promptly misses both of his free throws.
- "Oh, yeah? I'll see your two misses and raise you..." After UW gets the rebound of Cunningham's second miss, they get the ball to Wroten again, who is fouled. And again, with the Huskies down 1 point, misses both FTs with 8 seconds left.
- This time, Cunningham gets the rebound, is fouled and hits his two FTs. Then OSU, probably smartly, fouls rather than allow a three point shot.
- Terrence Ross makes the first, deliberately misses the second, and Cunningham grabs the board and is immediately fouled with 2 seconds left. And, with the Beavers up only two points... misses both FTs again. Although the second may have been strategic, to not allow UW to set up a play.
Okay, I can't see the Pac-12 getting more than two bids in any way, shape or form.
