Just to add a few more statistics to this thread: Stepfan Taylor's yards from scrimmage stats (totals coming into this season)
Stanford
Rushing: 521 carries  2770 yards (5.3 avg)
Receiving: 56 Recept. 491 yards (8.8 avg)
Total:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 3261 yards w/30 TDs
While Taylor did not have over 1,000 yards in his first season (when, obviously, Gerhart received nearly all the plays from scrimmage), his last two seasons as the starter he has easily surpassed that mark:
2010: 1,137 rushing (5.1 avg); 266 receiving (9.5 avg) 1403 total yards
2011: 1,330 rushing (5.5 avg); 182 receiving (7.3 avg) 1512 total yards
Obviously, statistics don't tell the whole story for any player, as different backs are utilized in different ways (and have different strengths). But when all is said and done Taylor's name will rank pretty high on that list of Stanford leaders in yards from scrimmage. (Probably is immediately behind Milburn right now.) Barring injury, he will likely end up trailing only Darrin Nelson.
