It was a fun weekend at Sunken Diamond.  We swept WSU and there were many great plays on both sides of the plate.  Mark Appel had a great outing on Friday, striking out ten and walking only one in eight innings.  Austin Wilson hit a towering three run homerun in the second game and made two fantastic catches in right field in the third game.  Dominic Jose, a freshman who has seen very little playing time until this weekend, hit a grand slam after Kenny Diekroger was intentionally walked on Sunday. 

But the most fun was seeing Stephen Piscotty have a great game Saturday as the starting pitcher.  It's just not that often you hear the announcer say "Batting third, the pitcher..."    He got the win, and made it to base all five times he came up to bat.  Nice article about him from the Daily:

Brett Mooneyham is the normal Saturday starter, but was sick and did not pitch the prior weekend at Oregon State.  Stephen has been pitching well in relief, so I guess Mark decided to give him a shot.  Brett was well enough to start on Sunday and had a good outing.
