David Yankey's got a pretty interesting family background:

Besides his versatility, he's an unusual player in another respect. He's a native of Australia. His father, who's from Ghana, and his mother, who's from Slovakia, met there and had David and his two younger brothers there. They moved to the Atlanta area when David was 8 because his father got a job there in information technology.

"The southern accent canceled out the Australian accent," David said, "and I didn't get either."

He's about to apply to become a U.S. citizen. He doesn't anticipate much trouble with the test.

"I've taken U.S. history and (advanced placement) U.S. history in high school, so I'm not worried."

That citizenship test also contains inane trivia not found in the AP tests, I hear :)  Still, you only need to pass.
