Hear, hear, 71 Bear.
While I find the "-f.u.r.d." epithet particularly loathsome (It's intended purpose, for sure.), the whole name-calling thing is reminiscent of a bunch of middle schoolers. Count me as solidly in favor of raising the bar for decorum here, there, everywhere. Healthy, even heated, rivalries, fine. Silly name-calling, I find demeaning.
I, too, am very proud of my alma mater, and I am pleased as can be that the Bay Area is fortunate enough to have two of the greatest universities in the world in such close proximity. I fear deeply for the future of all public universities in this country. I came from one before my graduate years at Stanford, and I work at one. I truly hope they find a way to survive and thrive.
Quote:I have great respect for Stanford and my Alma Mater. We are incredibly fortunate to have two world class universities in the Bay Area. To suggest otherwise only makes one look rather foolish...
