There's another benefit of black unis.  UCLA will be wearing white, with white sleeves.  That will show a lot of contrast when our defensive linemen are held, and hence it will be easier for the refs to call.

This is not a new thought.  I remember reading a few years ago that the offensive linemen of our opponent at their home put on white sleeves, so holding would be less apparent on our white road jerseys.
