It's right there at the end, when he talks about Bielemma. He notes that Barry Alvarez's legacy rides on his next coaching pick.
The problem is that despite it's stampeding herd ambience, the college football coaching-switch season is already coming to a close. It's possible that the coach they needed has already committed elsewhere. Or not. But last time Alvarez hired a guy he had worked beside and knew intimately (compared to most coaching searches). But beyond the usual musical chairs shuffling and elimination there are practical reasons for getting the new coach in place as soon as possible, recruiting and spring practice being the good ones, getting the right coach before someone else hires him, is paramount.
Alvarez coaching the Rose Bowl kind of indicates he already has someone already on staff in mind, but why not get him in place so that recruits know who they'd be playing for? Is it possible Alvarez still feels he needs more due dilligence to feel comfortable with a promotion from the current coaches? If so, what will a few weeks reveal that the past years haven't?
