NotreDame often does well in the Directors' Cup in the fall, then fades. They just don't have the strength in the winter and spring sports to keep pace with the leaders.

I am not worried at all about the Director's Cup, though Florida is ahead of last year's pace.  The football points will offset the lack of men's basketball points.  M & W Tennis, M & W Swimming and W Water Polo collectively provide 400+ points.  Those 5 plus the fall group would put Stanford near 800, and that gets a program into the top 20.  Baseball, Indoor and Outdoor track, fencing and the rest will put Stanford in a comfortable range.  Only a few programs can get to Stanford's base total and need almost everything to go right to match Stanford's tally.

I am more concerned about the NCAA Team Title run.  There are only a few teams on The Farm that have a real chance to win their championship event now.  With the NCAA run a bunch of 2nd and 3rd place finishes do not offset a championship.
