With the dozens of people and organizations that are providing college football computer rankings, i found Stanford's highest and lowest end of the season computer rankings interesting.
http://www.phelanpowerprinciple.com/ ranks Stanford #1 using a formula that focuses on strength of schedule, game results, and performance of opponents. The top five:
1. Stanford
2. Alabama
3. ND
4. Ohio State
5. Oregon
http://www.annarrankings.com/ ranks Stanford #39 using a formula that focuses entirely on statistics and ignores the outcomes of games. The top five:
1. Alabama
2. Florida State
3. Oregon
4. Texas A&M
5. ND
In addition--Last year we finished at #14 on the Phelan rankings, and at #4 on the Annar rankings, which would indicate that we were better on the field this year, but better statistically last year.
