What a poster child for bad statistics!
I guess the PAC-12 had to give some sympathy award to C.al and gave Brandon the player of the week award. Chiney's already won it 3 times, but the stats were (against the same teams, both at home).
Shooting stat lines for Chiney and Brandon....
Chiney:  54 pt, 63.6% FG%, 85.7% FT%
Brandon: 34 pt, 46.7% FG%, 42.9% FT%
Including FT, Brandon missed 10 more shots than Chiney, but Brandon got 10 more OF rebounds. Coincidence? Not really,
Surely, Brandon rebounded significantly better, right? No, Chiney outrebounded Brandon when you normalize the numbers for rebounding chances. The only reason Brandon had big numbers was that her team (and her) missed SO many shots.
Without looking into the game to see how many rebounds were possible for that player versus for the team,
Looking at OR chances (a team's OR + opponent's DR), Chiney got 9 of 59 (St. 25 OR+ opp. 34 DR) (15.3%) possible ORs. Brandon got 19 of 100 (48+52) (19%) possible ORs. A slight advantage for Brandon.
At the defensive end, Chiney got 20 of 68(52+16) possible DRs (29.4%). Brandon got 21 of 94 (51+43) possible DRs (22.3%). A big advantage for Chiney.
Rebounding totals: Chiney 29 of 127 (22.8%). Brandon 40 of 194 (20.6%)
