Lane Kiffin - the gift that keeps on giving
02-28-2013, 08:53 AM
I can't believe he's still griping about that helmet-to-helmet hit 18 months later. And does he really think having a win in 2011 would have changed the outcome of this year's team? If anything, it makes Barkley that much more likely to go pro as there's less "unfinished business." If your team is still affected by what you thought was a bad call a whole year later, and despite the national accolades and #1 ranking, then you have serious locker room management issues and should not be a CFB head coach. In the immortal words of Ronny/Donny Blume: "Pull your head out of your ass, Kiffin"

I actually LOVE the message. My read...
Dear Fans of Troy,
Matt Barkley was the best college QB of this generation, but I am such a terrible coach that HE looked bad. What happened? Well you see, my Dad, Monte, he is a defensive coaching legend. He might be one of the greatest defensive minds in football, but again I am such a terrible coach that HE looked bad too. So my leadership was so bad that Barkley just was destined to lose.
But don't you worry, those great talents are gone. Thankfully, I am still here. Ready and eager to take more 5-star talents and turn them into future NFL back-ups.
Sincerely Yours, Lane!

I'd rather he leave his head right where it is. Kiffin at U$C is good for Stanford.

Just so everybody knows I'm going to start referring to Barkley as Joffrey Baratheon and Kiffin as Jamie Lannister.

Daniel Tosh is the good twin?
Jamie's a bastard, but he redeems himself; Tosh is just really annoying.

Compared to SC's coach, Tosh is the good twin, but you're right. He's annoying.

OK, I don't get this one. "Daniel Tosh's evil twin"? Google tells me that Daniel Tosh is some random standup comic I've never heard of. Does he have some particular characteristic that makes the Lame Kitten similar to him? I don't see much facial resemblance.

Please. They look more alike than the guys who coached in the Super Bowl.

Google the SC coach's name along with "Daniel Tosh" in the same image search. You'll see that more than a few people agree.

Daniel Tosh's show on Comedy Central can be funny but that's because it's primary focus is him sharing videos of people doing really stupid things - I mean really stupid, Darwin Award-level things - that he's pulled off the web.
And he can be funny when he's riffing on that but from what I've seen and/or heard of his actual stand up act, he can be quite offensive and it's hard to tell if he's being genuine in his stand-up comments or if, like Stephen Colbert, it's an act. I lean towards the notion that Tosh is deliberately trying to be offensive, kind of like a millenial version of Andrew Dice Clay.
I can't think of a more apt comparison than Lane and Daniel Tosh.

Yo no spoilers, please. I'm reading the books after watching the show. And since I don't get cable, I just finished season 2 on DVD.

Really, no spoilers please. That Jamie would redeem himself wasn't hard to foresee. Your post that it doesn't happen in season 2 is the real spoiler (I'll get around to watching season 2 and reading the books someday but, like death, "not today"). >:(
