Coach Jon Embree decided he needed to whittle down the number of players who were getting playing time two weeks ago because there were too many mistakes being made. He said from that point on he would only play players he is sure he can trust, even if it means only 40 players get on the field in a game.

I mean, when you have to talk about trust in players and cut your active roster...shoot.  I almost feel sorry for the Buffaloes.  But I will not because I want Andrew Luck to rack up a bunch of video game stats for his Voldemort campaign this week...

I thought for sure when I opened this thread I'd read a reference to this:

The cornerback crew is made up of true freshmen and converted receivers, bailing wire and tricks. The defense has no ballhawks, the offense has one game-breaking receiver and the roster has all the depth of Kim Kardashian.

Haha, I remember seeing that earlier this season.  It's one thing to have outsiders evaluate a team's players and performance, but when a team's own coach does so in a pretty condemning manner...that's bad.

Also Colorado's coaches are pretty complimentary of us, in most of the ways you'd expect (have you heard of this Andrew Luck fella? apparently he plays for us, and is quite the player!), and some of the ways you wouldn't:

But, added Marshall, the degree of difficulty escalates for his entire bunch this week. Stanford, he said, "will rival Ohio State as far as defensive personnel. They play together and have a lot of good football players, so our work's cut out for us . . .
Stanford's nosetackle last season was Sione Fua, an eventual third-round draftee of the Carolina Panthers. Marshall was impressed with Fua, but believes Fua's replacement, sophomore Ben Gardner, "is even better. He's really good; their whole (defensive) line is."

Surely it's a positive that their coach can't even identify players in the correct position--Gardner, obviously, is a DE not an NT. (Probably it's the writer's fault).

Defensively, more than fine--they give up only 4.8 yards/play and rate well on various fancy statistical measurements. (Of course, we also rate well on various fancy statistical measurements also--the best in the Pac-12, according to most.)
