Ben Swan, class of '53, passed away last week. Ben was a gentleman, a great Stanford fan, and a friend. For the last six years, my seats in the stadium have been directly in front of Ben and his wife, Katsy. We became friends as we shared the great ride of the football program during that time. One of the high points was at last fall's win over U.S.C., which came on Ben's 81st birthday. He was so pleased with that birthday victory. At the end of the season, we parted with the promise, "See you next year." I'll miss him.
