The worst part about this is that this is the most saddening loss since I've been a fan (1990).  The loss in the 2000 Rose Bowl was expected as underdogs, as were the losses to Oregon in 2010 and 2011.  The Fiesta Bowl was a consolation prize anyways.  This loss was unexpected and pretty much derailed a national championship run.

As sad as I still am, a loss or two is still better than the abominations of Teevans and Idiotface.  And who knows how the rest of the season plays out.  I'm hopeful that we run the table like last year and there are enough losses by the other top teams to put us in the BCS game.  Even if Stanford doesn't win a national championship this year, there will be future opportunities.  Continued success for the rest of the season will help recruiting.  The playoff system will open up the opportunity more.  And Andrew was not an once in a generation talent at QB.  We just missed on Jameis Winston.  Keller Chryst is already hyped as the next Andrew Luck.  And who knows, Hogan might improve.  Great QBs will always come to Stanford.  And now we are recruiting well at all positions.  Plus we've got a coach that will stay for the long haul or at least credibly say that's his intention.

As dark as this week feels, the future looks bright.
