Hope you get to see it.  McFadden a walk-on who turns out to be an absolute savant at football analysis.  Has a photographic memory that he uses as a human instant replay machine.  Uses a whiteboard to diagram opponents play for review in realtime on the sidelines.  Might be one reason we improve as the game goes on.  And...he's just a peach of a person.  Absolutely great story and PR for Stanford.

Must say, as cool as this story was, it's a bit surprising it doesn't seem to have been known by Stanford followers before.  This is the kind of thing fans of teams usually know about the players on teams they follow.  Has anyone here heard about McFadden's unique talent before?

I also am surprised that we have not heard this story before. According to Stanford Football's Facebook page, Cole Underwood pitched the story to ESPN and assisted in concept, interviews, and production. Well done.

Wow this has supplanted Luck at Gruden Camp as the coolest non-game action Stanford football video I've ever seen.  I'm frankly embarrassed that we did not know about this.  I suspect some of you did but did not want to let the cat out of the bag on this secret weapon.

I had nearly forgotten about this, but McFadden had the best recruiting story I've heard so far...

An early commit to Princeton, McFadden had only applied and been accepted to one school - Princeton. So when he changed his mind about playing in the Ivy League, McFadden would have been in a difficult situation if he didn't get into Stanford,

“If I didn't get in here, 'Conor doesn't have a horse to ride',” McFadden (his dad) said.

Never one to be overconfident (McFadden called his near-perfect score of 35 on the ACT “lucky”) the offensive lineman was worried about his admissions chances.

A phone call to Coach Harbaugh put McFadden's mind at ease.

“I was like 'Coach, I need to know this' and he goes, ‘Conor, if you do not get admitted, I'll retire on the spot as the Stanford Football coach,’ ” McFadden said. “I believed him and I did, and there were no problems with that.”
