I just realized that the season has followed Wilner's prediction. Pre-season he said Stanford would lose one game, against Utah. Does this mean Wilner knows something? He also predicted our win in 2009 (although, I think he's incorrectly predicted the winner of the 2010-2012 games)

Perhaps, but how many have predicted us to lose to Utah and beat Oregon? I would be surprised if there is another analyst who predicted both the week of the games, let alone at the start of the season, as Wilner did.

I'm always entertained, surprised and a little horrified at the comment vitriol that Wilner's San Jose Mercury blog generates.  I like reading him, he explains his work, his picks (not W/L but against the betting line) are a little better than 50/50.  He also seems dialed in to what's going on behind the scenes in Bay Area college football.  Uncanny picking the Utah loss and the Oregon win...

I mean, clearly it was a great call. But prognostication is only impressive when you look at the totality of it, and Wilner's percentages aren't good at all. He got lucky, that's all.
