Every single NFL opening from now on will target him.
I heard the Texans were going to try to lure Gruden out of retirement, that seems significantly more likely.

...Shaw is suited to the college game, and in particular the college game at Stanford. I always thought Harbaugh and Walsh had at least one foot out the door in a potential move to greener pastures, just the feeling that I got from both men. I never thought either man would be a long-termer.
Shaw, on the other hand, seems to relish recruiting, works well with his staff, deeply appreciates living in Palo Alto (per DS, his wife certainly does), gets to run sophisticated football with the world's smartest college football players, has a supportive academic and local community, and doesn't make bad money. He's seen the NFL side through a number of different angles, including his father's coaching career. He currently has young children, and I'd be surprised if he moves on until at least they are out of high school, and if they attend Stanford, he'll be here probably at least until they leave the Farm.
He's attractive as coach bait, and teams will reach out to him for sure, but why would he leave to take over the reins of a poor team, with a dysfunctional management, ego-crazed players, an owner who wants to win RIGHTNOW (but isn't patient enough to do it right). The money would be big, but like I said, he's not poor.
