Based on what I can tell by flipping channels during commercial breaks: C.al is up 31-24 with 4 minutes left. C.al apparently has no ability to chew up the clock by running. During consecutive drives they chewed up no clock because they kept throwing incomplete passes.

Fun game but so frustrated with pac12now app (i am mirroring from my ipad.) occaissional freezes requiring reboots, then nonsense end of 3rd qtr . . . "No live programming." And, of course, the national broadcast began with the Oregon/Washington network feed. Maybe better direct on tv than through the app?

It's a shutout! Our D is deep. Lot's of good things to say about this team. Perfect first game to work out the kinks and get a good look at the personnel down the depth chart. I feel good about Crower as the backup for Hogan. But, Hogan is the hero and could take us far. Sanders, Young, and Wright all played solid at RB. Looks like it will be a committee at that position. Montgomery scores on his first touch of the season. He will be a superstar this season. How about our true freshman CM? How good is that kid? Receivers look awesome. Nice to see TEs catching balls again. Room to improve, but nice game for the Cardinal.

Agree. Garnett may have a tough week in practice and needs to be more disciplined, I think. Very happy about the TEs . . . 40% of last year's total catches in game 1. Maybe 50% (missed the end.). Wideouts were great. . . .whatever Cajuste did I hope he learned his lesson and is back. Montgomery, Rector and Cajuste will be nightmares to cover. Perry was a beast. Kicker was fine (he always misses those left.). What was Lloyd doing in there at qb a couple of times? And can't say enough about McCafferty . . . And neither can Shaw. Learned a lot. Good scrimmage. Thanks, Cardinal!

Did UCD cross midfield even once? Stanford only gave up 101 yards, and they probably could have given up less if they wanted.
I don't care who the opponent is, any team that is that dominant on defense through 4 quarters, is damn good. Would be nice to put up more on offense, but that D is going to carry the team.

C'mon OF... The offense could have put up 60 on them if starters hadn't come out so early. Hogan played less than 4 minutes into the 2nd half.

Did anyone keep track on how the running backs did with blocking? I didn't see much of that but the TV picture was framed too tight most of the time.

I didn't notice how well they were doing, bit I did notice Wright was in the game on most if not all of the obvious passing downs, like 3rd and long with 3+ WRs. Seems like they still see him as the best in pass protection.
