Hey guys,

Long time lurker but I post very rarely.  My wife and I bought season tickets for the first time this year.  It was particularly hot last week and we weren't too happy with water at $5.00 a bottle.  Does stadium security allow people to bring in things such as camelbaks?  Thanks for your responses. 

FYI: I went to undergrad at Stanford and was a transplant to USC for medical school in the same class as DabigV.  Despite that I wouldn't be caught dead cheering for USC.  DabigV and I were in the USC student section at the collesium for the biggest upset with our Stanford gear on.  It was a glorious experience.

I also got my graduate degree (JD) from the University Situated in Compton.  I loathed the Toejams more after my 3 years on campus than when I matriculated.

Here's your options:

1) Bring in unopened/sealed water bottles.  Any quantity, no problem.  Medium sized backpacks are still fine, unlike pro stadiums.

2)  Bring in your empty camelback and look for the water spigots at waist height placed around the outside of the stadium near the gates.  They have little signs saying something like "Placed for your convenience by SF water co. to provide fresh Sierra Spring water".  It actually tastes quite good.

I don't know your age but the guards are a little lax inspecting anyone over 40.  I've brought in a thermos of hot chocolate without issue on a rainy day.  (Either unseen or unremarked during the backpack check).  I wouldn't chance getting a nice Camelback through.  It could be a long walk to your car!

Actually lefty apparently this year they have a nominal limit on size of water bottles, 20 ounces IIRC. It seems like every year they have to implement something that makes getting water more and more annoying, it's really starting to get irritating.

Also, to be clear, these are sealed (or empty) store-bought plastic water bottles. Not nalgenes. Walking home last week I saw a giant nalgene graveyard so they do crack down on this. Although, if you want a way around it, just look for place where the fence has a decent-sized gap between the ground and stash your water bottle there, then grab it once you're inside. I did that for a game last year.
