Maybe Terrence is a student athlete whose focus is on the former rather than the latter. Just maybe he went up to Coach Shaw early on and said something to the effect of:
"I want to play football but also get my degree in 4 years and move on. I'm not NFL material and I will never be. I am most passionate about (fill in the degree program of your choice) and I want to pursue it in depth during and after my 4 years. I'll do my best for the football program, but I won't let it interfere with my dreams."
Is this not possible?

We know Stanford is an academic powerhouse. On the job performance is what counts. How many bosses will continue to give you the big job when performance is inconsistent, just saying. They could have redshirted T. Alexander if they weren't going to give him a shot at his position

What's the point of giving someone a redshirt year if they are unlikely to be here 5 years.
And, after Saturday, we may start seeing a bit of Terrence Alexander slowly being introduced into the defense.

He plays on special teams. I imagine that Shaw values some on-field experience this year so that Alexander is comfortable next year playing a more prominent role in the secondary.Â
