Someone explained to me that Aussie players in their national league are known to give American players a rough time, and apparently Childress had probably been the victim of multiple, uncalled infractions this game (just like every game?).

Looking at that tape, that was a really hard offensive pick which Josh ran into.  I've watched it a dozen times and the Aussie player was bringing his arms up to protect himself as Josh collided--or was it to give Josh a little extra shove that helped send him to the floor?  It almost looks like there was a little something extra there.  That might be an explanation as to where Josh's rage came from.

However, when Josh launched himself he led with his right forearm, which was swinging forward, and hit the Aussie in the neck and chin.  It looked like he was trying to decapitate him.  That looked like more than a flagrant foul, that looked like assault and battery.

That was not a good thing.

Agreed with you on your comments re: Josh.  It wasn't good, and Josh went after him in an over-the-top, assault/battery fashion.  But...not only can you see that the Aussie player throws a forearm at Childress on the screen (Andrew Bogut does the same thing, BTW), but the announcers repeatedly referred to events prior to the screen/forearm shiver.  Obviously other things had happened during the game to evoke such an out-of-character response from Childress.

If there's a pattern of events that's not being fairly called, maybe the Aussies are trying to goad the Yank into defending himself.  (Don't think Childress would ever really think of himself as a Yank though.)
