I just went to the Utah ticket office to buy seats for the game on the 15th only to find that they don't have any left.  My guess is that Utah probably turned part of its allotment back to Stanford seeing where we have/had sections 125, 126, 128 and 228 and that seems like a lot of seats.  So now we are going the Stubhub route.

Stubhub is showing no tickets available in any of our sections so my question is this.  Should I try to buy in a section adjacent to the Utah section or should I just purchase any ticket to get in the stadium and there will likely be seats that we can move to?  If we decide to sit in the visitor's section, what should we expect as far as sun goes?

Thanks in advance for the information and any suggestions that you have as far as things to do on gameday.

The visitor's section is in the sun until it sets behind the press box or stadium, depending on where you are. You'll definitely want sunglasses if you're over there.

I don't know if you'd necessarily be happier in the visitor's section or near it, in my experience even really rowdy opposing fans don't get much more than dirty looks. My guess is that there will plenty of empty seats in the stadium, since we could hardly fill the even-year slate when we ended up winning the Rose Bowl, but who knows?

The sunny areas of our stadium are pretty lethal. I would bring all the anti-sun devices, hat, sleeves, SPF 40.

I just checked the Stanford ticket site and there are seats available in 125, 129, 227, and 229 (all in or right next to the Utah section).  If you use the choose my own seat option, you can choose the section and seats.  I would go for lower in the upper deck seats over seats that are in the first 8 or so rows in the lower deck since the visitor section is in the corner.  Even the front row in the lower deck is raised enough to see over the people on the sidelines, but for me it is harder to see the action at the other end of the field from a low vantage point.  Good luck.

Eh, when it's cool and breezy it's really not that bad, at least IMO. Plus it's only 2 hours until Sunset from kickoff, so you'll probably get into the shade pretty quickly (though not in the upper deck). Forecast is showing showers, but at this point that's not super meaningful. Probably a good idea to bring a hat if you're sensitive to heat, but I'd think that a Utahan would scoff at our idea of excessive heat.

There is a brobdingnagian typhoon heading into the Bering Sea right now.  They are predicting a cold front to blanket the entire North American continent.  I would expect it to be cold next Saturday in Palo Alto.
