Leaving the Santa Clara convention center last night was a mess.  There will be less traffic tonight from the work crowd, but it's going to be raining.  The Duck and Oregon fans that have made the trip will go, but I don't see many fringe football fans attending.

Interestingly enough, a Michigan football fan friend of mine will be at the game tonight.  Works for high-tech, got an MBA from Texas.  I guess there are some strange things that a disastrous Michigan football season will drive a man to do.

Wow ... This game was never going to fill with fans traveling from Oregon or Tempe.  Even when you add local alums and subway fans (particularly for the Ducks) the rooting interest ceiling is limited. 

That leaves us  - local PAC 12 fans with no dog in this fight but passionate about college football.  We represent the sweet spot for the Pac12's marketing effort and almost NONE of us are going. 

Ouch.  The experiment has failed.

The pace of play is a bit ugly.  The Pac-12 refs do very little to help our brand.

Still, the game is close and Fox is doing a decent job of making it look like the stadium is packed.  Clearly it is not packed, but it looks OK.  Given the Friday game and the rain the turnout is not awful.

Did Oregon borrow our defense for the game?  They are dominating Arizona right now.  They also seemed to borrow our red zone offense.  Until they finally scored a Td, they had 6 points out of three possessions in the red zone, including having third and goal at the one, and getting nothing.  Stuffed at the goal line, false start, missed field goal.

I bet the Foster Farms people are getting concerned.

UofA looks awful.  Hard to believe they get an invite to a good bowl if they lose 34-0 or something in that realm.

In that situation, Foster Farms would have to take UofA for their bowl...in this same stadium...just 3.5 weeks from now.  Ouch.  There are no UofA fans in the stands right now and the Rose Bowl and CFP were on the line.  Can't imagine the attendance will be better in late December for a Chicken bowl.

Arizona laying an egg doesn't necessarily mean they're out. Part of this is Oregon playing out of their minds on defense, and hopefully the committee will see that...

I still don't buy there would be only one Pac-12 team gets in.  If there are no upsets in the remaining games, and UA actually drops that far, I think UCLA climbs the three spots it needs for a committee bowl.  I actually don't really understand how Ole Miss is ahead of them right now after that Arkansas game two weeks ago.  For that matter, I don't get how Georgia is ahead of them, either.

But, I don't think Arizona would drop that far.  Again, I site Ole Miss, WHO WAS SHUT OUT BY ARKANSAS, and is still ranked 12 by the committee.
