Monday's WBB game against ASU will be at the abnormally early 3PM start time, right in the middle of my work day. Sigh..
The Stanford game notes seemed not to discuss the opposing team much, so I went to look through the ASU game notes, from which I took most of the material below.
Of course, coach Charli Turner Thorne always brings her best game for Stanford. But, perhaps CTT was thrown a curve by Tara's change in offense this year. But she has had time to adopt.
#14 ASU has won 12 straight, with the last 11 being double-digit wins. They beat C.al by 15 (but lead by only 2 with 10:30 to go). Their win margin is 18.2. They are #7 in RPI. As of Jan. 18, ASU is second in the nation in 3-point FG percentage defense (21.3%), 10th in FG percentage (46.7%), 13th in scoring margin (+18.4), 23rd in scoring defense (55.4) and 24th in assists per game (16.9).
While #7 in RPI, the best team they've beaten is Washington (#20 RPI) but lost to Green Bay (#13 RPI). Next best they've played was their wins vs C.al (#30 RPI) and Northwestern (#42 RPI).
Versus common opponents, ASU beat each of the Washington schools by 14 points at home, while Stanford won by 4 and 10 (OT) on the road. ASU beat Arizona by 47 (away) and 17 (home). Stanford beat Arizona by 30 (home). ASU beat UCDavis by 21 at home while Stanford beat them by 12 at home.
