We've heard rumblings at one point or another about Niko Small and Zach Abercrumbia, but this recruiting season hasn't featured any reports about elite recruit(s) flying under the radar.  Last year, we learned about Reilly Gibbons at the eleventh hour.  He was a true stealth recruit, and an elite recruit to boot.  (Really a shame he got injured and transferred closer to home.)  I wonder if Stanford has any such irons in the fire this year.  Porter Gustin anyone?  No one is predicting Stanford, but he hasn't actually named his finalists yet, he has a pretty good GPA, and he did visit Stanford over the summer.  Longshot, yes.  Impossible?

Reilly Gibbons actually announced his love of Stanford perhaps a year before LOI day, and made a safe harbor verbal commitment to Miami while he went through the admissions process here.  No one seems aware of anything vagely similar this year. 

And we've lost relatively few recruiting battles this year, which all but eliminates the possibilities for stealth decommits from other schools.

There was nothing stealthy about Maihen.  A major newspaper flatly stated that he would be attending Stanford prior to the time he decommitted from WSU.

We didn't "lose" some of our DL battles because the targets haven't committed anywhere, but the conventional wisdom is that Green and Gustin are not considering Stanford. I would be surprised, but not shocked, to find out that one of those guys actually completed the application on the down low to avoid embarrassment if they did not get accepted.

Gustin never considered Stanford. Had a low ACT and probably no retake. Expected to end up at USC. Green probably didn't apply after he was asked to retake the SAT/ACT. He's expected to end up at USC or Miami.
