UCLA did beat out Texas for Soso Jamabo, who evidently favored the student base at UCLA:

Given our DL concerns, we should root hard for any non-Pac 12 team that can steal Chris Warren from Washington.

Soso Jamabo's tweet is a reference to an obscure (at least to me!) rap song referencing UCLA. Seems like very few people caught the reference. Perhaps our rap experts on board can comment.Â

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.

Chris Warren was a big get for Texas. I know he was looking at Stanford a few months ago but I confess I lost track. What happened? Admissions?

Harbaugh has tried to direct some fire our way, but good to see he's after the 59ers a bit: http://mgoblog.com/content/hello-keith-washington

Darnit! I was beginning to think we had another recruiting advantage.

UCLA (and UCB) have us beat on that front though, Publius. USC too, to be honest.

How many here think he actually decided by sitting on a stage in front of his Texas peeps flipping a coin? I know, I know he had purple balloons etc. handy, but that just feels like stage props for a pre-made decision. If anything, I think he flipped a coin well before the show.

I watched the Newsome announcement where he picked UCLA over Texas. Just unbelievably painful -- you could tell he truly hadn't made up his decision but that he was forced to decide because they had planned this big school event.
The recruiting season is laughably insane but the SEC firmly entrenched in Texas and Texas still a scared caged rabid animal just made the whole thing nutty. There were over 55,000 posts in the 2015 Texas Recruiting thread on the site that I frequent.

For those who aren't familiar with genius.com, you can find crowd-sourced interpretations of most songs. Childish Gambino is actually a fairly sharp rapper. His real name is Donald Glover and he is on the NBC show Community (which people seem to like, but I've never seen it). Here's a breakdown of the song in question: http://genius.com/376161/Childish-gambin...-kill-yall

Best internet comment I've seen on The Asiaphile:
"Wanted to go to UCI, but they don't play football."
