I'm a bit peeved that they removed the red drop shadow from the endzone lettering. If we're going to be named after a color, we might as well use it. (And the all-white lettering now looks so generic.)

I actually prefer it without the shadow - I never really liked it. I like the cleaner, classic look of the all-white. Reminds me of the way it looked in the 90s.

I like the switch myself.  I found the drop shadow to be outdated.  I like the new font as well.  I wouldn't mind them outlining it in cardinal, I just wasn't a fan of the drop shadow.

As an aside, when they break out the black unis it would be cool to adorn the end zone accordingly.  Perhaps black font outlined in cardinal, or the inverse.  Or maybe do the end zone in black like the 49ers are doing for tomorrow night's game.  Black end zone, cardinal font with a white outline to match the jerseys.

I'm not a fan either, though I think the '15 alts are better than the previous ones.  But the recruits dig them, which I suppose is the purpose.

I'm not shocked. They've looked very good so far. Hopefully as the season progresses the loss will be seen as merely a close loss to a good team.

For those at the game, how about fixing the other scores ticker so that is doesn't read "University of  20  -  University of  31."  Other scoreboard gripes:  Make the score larger and easier to see on both the main scoreboards and the ribbon board.  It needs a larger font and different color background to help it stand out.  Don't separate the field position from the down and distance (they are now on opposite sides of the score).  The addition of more running stats along the ribbon scoreboard was nice and very welcome.  Just fix the regular scoreboards.  I will email the AD tomorrow to raise these issues.

Down and distance were difficult to find.  I believe I remember them being located in the center of the long side of the ribbon board, jumbled up with score and quarter information.

I agree with the complaints about the scoreboard issues--I was pointing out both the score and the down and distance to people who have been seated around me since the stadium opened.  Somebody fixed something that wasn't broken.

I really liked that they moved the status information to the ribbon board. I'm kind of amazed people struggled to find it, I'm in the end zone (the worst place to be distance-wise) and have fading eyesight that I've yet to correct out of laziness, so I am basically the poster child for "shouldn't be able to read anything". But down and distance was perfectly visible in the lower right corner of the jumbotron (at least the north one, I can't see the south one) and all the other information was on the ribbon board, easily visible. I had to look around to find TO information, but once you see it you know where it is and it's easy to find. And it's not like this is that different from last year, since the ribbon board had plenty of status info on it (like yardage totals).

The main reason I liked this change is that it doesn't really matter where you put status information as long as it's visible. But last year they had that stuff taking up like half of the jumbotrons and it made the board essentially useless for live action plays (and whatever replays didn't take up the whole board) for me, the screen was just too small. But now it's pretty good, though the aspect ratio is a little wonky so you miss some stuff that's happening on the top and bottom of the camera's shot. Oh well, baby steps.

One thing I'd really like to know is what they actually did to change the bathrooms behind the main ticket office. That's the one I typically use, and they said they refinished them, but the men's room looked identical. So that's a mystery to me.
