Paige Bueckers, ESPN, and presumably Geno lobbying Azzi Fudd hard to join "not only the best women's college program in history but arguably the greatest program in the history of sports" (gag):

Some updates on targets:

- Talia von Oelhoffen visited Oregon State this weekend. I think we have a great shot at securing a commitment from her.

- I could see it potentially coming down to Oregon State and Stanford for both von Oelhoffen and Kampschroeder. Kampschroeder is likely to announce her decision in the near future, shortly after her HS season.

- UCLA and UConn were at a recent game for Kiki Iriafen. She is definitely one of my favorite bigs in this class. If she stays on the west coast, it likely comes down to UCLA and Stanford - the two main teams I've seen associated with her. I really like our chances there.

- Caroline Ducharme is appearing to be leaning towards UConn. She has made multiple trips to Storrs this winter and Geno recently went to watch her.
I don’t think 81 mentioned this in his great story but Wilson committted tonStanford at the start of her Soph year. Anything is possible soon

bob, if you're hinting at sophomores, i'd guess kiki rice as most likely because of the susan connection with lauren betts as most triumphant surprise.
I assume we will try to recruit 5 for 2021?

"not only the best women's college program in history but arguably the greatest program in the history of sports" (gag):

Gag is right! Maybe Katie Barnes has never heard of John Wooden or UCLA  - 11 national championships, 7 in a row!!, 4 undefeated seasons, including 2 back to back.  And all against more and better competition, as the men’s game had been well established much earlier.  Wooden had 10 national championships in 12 years!!  Or maybe she doesn’t know about the Boston Celtics’ 17 NBA championships, 11 of them in 13 years.  How about the NY Yankees winning 16 pennants between 1927 and 1953 and turning 15 of those 16 into World Series titles.  I don’t think UConn is in the running, but I guess Katie Barnes is blinded by the light that emanates from ESPN

No question Geno is one of the best and UConn has been the best in the women’s game, but to call them the greatest program ever in all of sports is more revealing of the writer’s ignorance and hometown bias than it is of a knowledgeable and valid appraisal.

I'd argue our own women's tennis program is demonstrably better: 20 out of a possible 38 national championships, runner-up 7 times, at one point 6 in a row.
NCAA records
Also UNC women's soccer, both for duration and dominance while playing in the toughest league in the sport for a couple of decades.  Until recently, that is :).  I may hate their style and their propensity for injuring other teams players, but the history of results is impressive.

Maybe a new potential recruit from GA: Kayla McPherson.

https://www.augustachronicle.com/sports/...basketball

Tara even made a trip out to see her in September:

"Walking through the halls of Madison County, a Class 4A school with just over 1,400 students, on a given day during September’s open contact period were the likes of UConn coach Geno Auriemma, Baylor’s Kim Mulkey, Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer and Georgia’s Joni Taylor."
Thanks I’ll add when I can

says she has a 3.64 gpa.

that makes 4 point guards in the 2021 top 20 in whom we have interest.
Good pick up john, on the GPA

Hey Bob, if you get a chance, next time you update the list, could you group the recruits by position?  Might make it a bit easier to follow.

Also, I asked earlier if we were planning for five recruits.  Do you know?

I'm not sure Fudd is a point guard.  Hoopgurlz and Prospectsnation list her as a "G" not a "PG".  Plus Paige Bueckers, future point guard for UConn, keeps recruiting her friend Fudd to play beside her, presumably as a shooting guard.
Fudd could play either, but yes, shooting guard may be best. I hope we still have a shot at her, but UConn fan optimism about them getting her is extreme.
Right now we have openings for 5. For 2021
