The basketball "regular signing period" that's currently in progress ends August 1, a little more than 9 days from now. Maybe that's related.

I would take that to mean that this years class needs to sign by August 1, so I don’t think that’s it.

Well, I saw optimism about one potential recruit on stanford.rivals.com, but nothing about 9 days. So I was trying to guess what the 9 days is.
