Rough day for Karty.  Two field goal attempts blocked.  The latter would have won the game for the Rams, but not only was it blocked, it was returned for a touchdown, giving the Eagles the game.

McCaffrey continues his workmanlike if unspectacular early season.  52 yards rushing, 88 yards receiving.  Niners won on a walk-off field goal by the new kicker.

How much of a blocked FG is the kicker's fault?  I was thinking of Emmet Kenney as well.

Karty's last kick was too low. Dunno about the hold.

If the Niners had Kittle, Aiyuk and Jennings; the Cardinals wouldn't have keyed on McCaffrey so much. When those three are back, McCaffrey will be crushing it again.
Mac Jones is clearly serviceable -- how has he been compared to Purdy?  Kind of interesting how Jones is decent now in the way that Daniel Jones is decent after having left the Giants.

Without Kittle, Aiyuk, Jennings or his starting left guard; Jones' QBR was #13 in the NFL.. Purdy is #19, incidentally. Jones'' passer rating was #11.  Pretty good, for being without three key starting skill people.
Jones is now probably? out for Week 4 after reaggravating a PCL injury he suffered in training camp.  The Niners are a MASH unit.

Last play of Washington's second possession vs. Las Vegas this weekend -- 2nd and 1 at the LV49, former Oregon Duck Marcus Mariota runs the ball to the LV27 (as he is wont to do), whereupon former Stanford Cardinal Thomas Booker punches the unprotected ball out of Mariota's hands.  The ball skitters around until former Stanford Cardinal Kyu Blu Kelly picks it up and and runs it forward for three yards before being tackled.  Just a little Pac-12 action like the good old days.

always nice to see former Stanford guys playing together in the NFL.
Okereke leads the NFL in tackles with 34.

Karty had two blocked kicks at Philly on Sunday including the "Bad Beat" block on the last play. Apparently the first two blocked kicks of his football career.
Forty effing Niners beat LA. CMC amazing again. Possibly the best player in the NFL.

Another rough game for Karty. PAT attempt blocked, FG missed, and a short kickoff. He might not be long for the Rams if this keeps up.
Ertz caught another TD pass on Monday Night Football. Continues to build his Hall of Fame resume!

Jake Bailey is averaging 49.7 yards per punt for Miami.

CMC is "on pace" for ~ 450 touches this season, which is just bananas.

Kittle's back this week, but Atlanta's pass defense is the best in the NFL, and they're #17 in run defense, so...McCaffrey's going to get some carries.
McCaffrey is having himself a nice game against Atlanta.  114 yards rushing on 23 carries with 2 TD, including what is likely the nail in Atlanta's coffin (with 2 minutes left, he just made it a two-score game); 7 catches for 72 yards receiving.

McCaffrey had 201 yards from scrimmage, including his first 100-yard rushing game since he was offensive player of the year in 2023, the 49ers first two rushing TDs of the season, and his 201 were his most since playing with Carolina in 2019.

Curtis Robinson went in when Tatum Bethune came out briefly. He had a tackle.
McCaffrey's 4th qtr touchdown run was so impressive.  Seemed like he was carrying half the Falcons defenders on his back.
Incidentally, last night's game was the seventh game of McCaffrey's career in which he had at least 100 rushing yards and 70 receiving yards. Previously, he was tied with Marshall Faulk and Priest Holmes for six games each. CMC now holds the NFL record.

CMC is now 11th in the NFL in rushing and sixth in receiving and #1 in total yards from scrimmage with 981 (#2 is Bijan Robinson with 914, last night's opponent).

And CMC and Robinson spent the summer training together and, I gather, have become good friends.
I wonder if CMcC gave away all his secrets to Bijan, even the "5 point palm heart exploding technique"? (Kill Bill reference)
Meanwhile, the incomparable Zach Ertz caught another TD, his 4th of the season and 57th of his career! Is a yellow Hall of Fame blazer in his future?

Austin Hooper caught his first TD of the season and he has quietly accumulated 29 career TDs.

That would be nice. There are ten tight ends in the NFL Hall of Fame. Here are the ten with their NFL HoF Monitor score:

Tony Gonzalez (195.43)
Shannon Sharpe (114.25)
Atonio Gates (113.63)
Dave Casper (111.62)
Kellen Winslow (96.36)
Ozzie Newsome (80.75)
Jackie Smith (78.04)
John Mackey (76.52)
Mike Ditka (62.59)
Charlie Sanders (61.58)

Travis Kelce (133.52), Gronkowski (123.72) and Jason Witten (104.72) will probably get in.

Todd Christensen (59.84) is not in, nor is Riley Odoms (55.31), Raymond Chester (46.5), Russ Francis (42.94), Jay Novacek (37.93), Keith Jackson (38.55), Brent Jones (36.85), Vernon Davis (32.14), Delanie Walker (23.98), Ted Kwalick (23.95) or Monty Stickles (14.95).

Of current players, George Kittle (42.30) and Zach Ertz (40.38) have a chance, I think. Hooper (18.53) would have to step it up a bit. Coby Fleener and Dalton Schultz are both exactly 12.70.
